Simple and calm, “I Got You” is Amy Shark’s statement of dedication. It serves as the first track from her debut album.
About Amy Shark – I Got You :
Released alongside the album on July 13, 2018; This Indie Pop was written by Shark and produced by album collaborator Dann Hume.
The Gold Coast singer-songwriter’s fortunes may have changed since her seemingly inescapable Adore came within a whisker of ruining Flume’s Hottest 100 party but it seems things haven’t gone Shark’s way when it comes to relationships at least. How long you can take musically gentle indie-pop exploring such themes will depend on your ability to relate to her pain, your willingness to forgive such soul-baring because it usually comes with a self-deprecating smile and a pretty tune, and/or whether you have acquired the taste for Shark’s distinctive quivering – to some emotional, to others grating – vocal delivery. Thus far most seem to be on her side, which proves perfectly reasonable. Backed by a two-piece band comprising a drummer and a multi-instrumentalist who plays keyboards or bass as required, Shark is an appealing performer whether dancing with abandon and trying to get the crowd going or playing guitar and cooing her tales of woe.
